Thanksgiving flowers are one of the safest host gifts for dinner. Canadian Thanksgiving is Monday, October 12, 2026. A ready-to-display fall arrangement shows thanks, fits any table and lasts past the weekend. Ottawa Flowers offers same-day Thanksgiving flower delivery across Ottawa and Gatineau, with free local delivery on orders of $100 or more.
This guide covers which flowers to bring, what to avoid, and how to order. If you are hosting and need table flowers, see our guide to Thanksgiving centerpieces in Ottawa.
What Flowers to Bring to Thanksgiving Dinner
The best host gift does not create work. The host is already managing the kitchen, the guests and the timing. Your gift should be ready to display the moment it arrives.
Fall Flower Arrangements in a Vase or Basket
Choose an arrangement that comes in its own container. A loose bouquet forces the host to find a vase, trim stems and fill water mid-prep. An arrangement goes on a counter and stays there.
Our Fall Collection is built around the season's warm tones: gold, rust, burgundy and deep orange. Our Thanksgiving Flowers collection gathers designs made for the holiday.
Designer's Choice Flowers
If you do not know your host's taste, let our designers choose. Designer's Choice arrangements start at $80 and are made with the best available seasonal flowers. You pick the colour direction, and we design the rest.
Plants and Dish Gardens
A plant outlasts cut flowers. A dish garden or potted plant keeps giving through the winter, so it suits a host who prefers something long-lasting. Add a ceramic pot to make it a finished gift.
Pumpkin Collection for Thanksgiving
Pumpkins are the most recognizable symbol of Thanksgiving, and our Pumpkin options in Fall Collection brings that look to the table without any effort from the host. It suits a guest who wants a gift that is clearly seasonal, easy to place and ready on arrival. Choose it when you want something more distinctive than a standard bouquet. It works well for hosts, clients and colleagues.
Flowers with Gourmet Treats
Pairing flowers with food makes the gift more generous. Our gourmet baskets and chocolate bouquets give the host something to share at the table. For a wider range of local Ottawa gifts, visit Givopoly.
What Not to Bring as a Thanksgiving Host Gift
- Tall arrangements. They block conversation across the table.
- Strongly scented flowers. Heavy fragrance competes with the food.
- Loose, unwrapped stems. The host should not have to prepare your gift.
- High-maintenance plants. Keep it simple.
Sending Thanksgiving Flowers When You Cannot Attend
Not every gift is carried through the door. You may be travelling, hosting your own dinner, or thanking someone from a distance. Thanksgiving is also a natural time to thank clients, colleagues and staff.
Delivered flowers solve this. They arrive on the day with your message, and the recipient does nothing.
